Winter Family are set to play two evenings at Dampfzentrale Bern: On Friday, 21 May 2021, with Eko Nori and on Saturday, 22 May 2021, with Jon Hood. The tickets for the cancelled concerts of Vanishing Twin on the same weekend remain valid or can be returned to the point of purchase for a refund.

Winter Family create dark-tinged, political and eerily beautiful pop music. The duo started working together more than 15 years ago. Their world of sound is dense, saturated, emotional, simple and obsessional, characterised by Ruth Rosenthal’s powerfully emotive yet fragile voice and poem-like vocals. Xavier Klaine plays pipe organ, piano, philicorda, harmonium, sitar and celesta, while Ruth chants her texts, plays drums, machines and bells. Since 2016, their daughter, Saralei, has played flute and machines at most Winter Family concerts. To date, Winter Family have released six albums and several documentary theatre pieces and presented their projects at art and cultural venues, churches and galleries around the world.

Jon Hood from Lucerne play mystical, sensual music, permeated by light and magic, characterised by the voice of Joan Seiler, whose whispers resonate loudly and clearly, telling smaller and larger stories about physical meaning or tearful environments and the longing for the intangible. There is plenty of room in the compositions, a lot of space, which is utilised without any fear of emptiness, allowing you to enter and look around their world of sound and maybe even dance a little. When krautrock or avant-garde folk come riding over the horizon, Jon Hood do away with old quotes once and for all, creating sounds that produce alert ears and precise decisions. Their debut LP Body Semantics was produced by former Dampfzentrale Bern associated artist Merz and released in 2017 on the Zurich-based label Red Brick Chapel.
