Artist applications

Dampfzentrale Bern is a meeting place for innovative, contemporary forms of performance, dance and music. In the ambience of the old industrial complex on the river, we offer our audience extraordinary cultural experiences. As a presentation venue, we host guest performances and concerts on our stages. The house by the Aare is an interactive environment for artists: Artists rehearse here on a daily basis, exchanging ideas with each other and with the audience. Tanz in Bern, Full Of Lava (fka Saint Ghetto) and, since 2022, EXPOP are the focal points of the season’s program.

The curatorial team receives a large number of requests from artists in Switzerland and abroad and from various artistic disciplines. We are delighted that so many artists want to show their work and projects with us. Accordingly, we make every effort to view and respond to all inquiries. Unfortunately, we are not always able to do this, and not without gaps. We reserve the right to seek discussions with artists who match the profile of the museum and our mission. The following criteria are decisive for us when selecting a program: quality, aesthetics, independence, audience appeal.
