Two naked men, a rug and a conversation about blood -– these are the components of this choreography. But it is not about a medical condition, as the title, which is based on an alternative method of blood testing, might suggest. Here, blood serves as a metaphor for being alive. Alternating between darkness and -sometimes threatening- diffuse light, the dancers take a microscopic look at human life, looking inwards and outwards, into and beyond themselves. The scary and the comforting go hand in hand. The performance begins to unfold its hypnotic, dissociated effects at the latest when a version of PJ Harvey’s «The slow Drug» kicks in.

Biography

Jefta van Dinther is considered a master of dark secrets. Central in his work is the question of what it means to be human, thereby dealing with notions of the visible, the invisible or the uncanny. His performances are characterised by a rigorous physical approach in which the moving body is the core of his practice while belonging to and interacting with a body of light, materials and music.
