Six dancers emerge as shadows from the darkness of the stage. They perform repetitive subtle micro-movements, vibrating bounces, while exerting a rhythmic, hypnotic and ever-increasing force. «Elvedon», a mystical place in Virginia Woolf’s novel «The Waves» and the inspiration for this choreography, constitutes two ambivalent phenomena: Waves can support us, but they can also swallow us forever. Time is a sign of both vitality and transience. And just like we are unable to escape time, we are also incapable of fleeing this enthralling choreography that grabs our full attention and is, as it were, a moment of supreme concentration and pleasurable meditation.

Biography

Christos Papadopoulos studied dance, theatre and political science. In just a few years, the choreographer and performer has gone from being widely regarded as a rising star of the international dance scene to his works being welcomed enthusiastically wherever they are performed. Christos’ performances reflect the inner human state, be it through abstract movement or through a simple gesture. A movement from and to the human being.
