A very special, highly professional and multi-layered choreography which became more fascinating the longer it went on. Initially bored by the single dancer in red, the scene developed into a turbulent and cha- otic experience. I observed, focussed on the individual aspects and was soon fully absorbed.
You are alone yet still engaged in a process of exchange. A brief meeting, an instance of mutual perception before everything disappears again. Have I missed something? Is it important that I don’t miss anything? Or is it important that I fail to see something? Is paying attention to the details the actual experience? Can I shift my focus away from watching individual dancers and fix it on the whole? «10000 gestes» is reflective of our modern-day society, both in a positive and a negative sense. Awesome!

Boris Charmatz has been challenging the preconceived notions of dance as a form of art for over 25 years. In doing so, he uses the most ephemeral of cultural forms to redefine ideas about museums, archiving, collecting and exhibiting. The result is a tension-laden language of movement that oscillates between the fleeting moment and the eternal. During 2009–2018 Boris Charmatz was the director of Musée de la danse de Rennes et de Bretagne. In January 2019 he launched «Terrain», a structure implemented in the Hauts-de-France region and associated with Phénix Valenciennes, Opéra de Lille and Maison de la Culture d’Amiens. Boris Char- matz is accompanied artist of Charleroi danse (Belgium) for a period of three years (2018-2021).
