«HOLY F^*K!!! MIND BLOWING!!!». This statement is from Walter Hoejimakers, Artistic Director of the internationally acclaimed Dutch Roadburn Festival, who was referring to the brand-new songs by Bern-based band Sum Of R. Although you could question whether or not Sum Of R can still be called a Bernese band, since, after going through numerous line-up changes, constant member Reto Mäder has now teamed up with two Finnish musicians, Marko Neumann and Jukka Rämänen, both members of Dark Buddha Rising.
Sum Of R will be one of the first ever Swiss bands to perform on the main stage of the Roadburn Festival in front of almost 4,000 people. The Artistic Director’s enthusiasm has even led to the trio performing their second, more experimental project called Ural Umbo (also by Reto Mäder and originally conceived as a solo project) at this year’s festival.

Sum Of R plays monolithic epic doom-metal infused with electronic effects and a penchant for drone rock, krautrock rhythms and other psychedelic elements.

We consider ourselves very lucky indeed to welcome the trio to a local record release show less than one week before their big Roadburn gig.

After the concert, stick around for a DJ set with Rachel Bühlmann. Rachel is first and foremost a photographer and responsible for the cover photo of «Lahbryce».
