Dampfzentrale Bern sees itself as a cultural meeting place for both the audience as well as the art scene. A restaurant directly on the river Aare adds to our profile as a meeting point. The everyday and the artistic inspire and encourage each other mutually in Dampfzentrale Bern. We provide free space to experiment, debate and discover.

Dampfzentrale Bern stands for cultural positions with national and international charisma. We are the leading venue for contemporary dance, performance, music and club culture in the capital of Switzerland. As a location for events, we present a variety of these art forms. We want to inspire, challenge and entertain.

Dampfzentrale Bern operates on several levels: The visible part of our cultural engagement is the public programme. However Dampfzentrale Bern is also involved as a co-producer for innovative productions in the independent scene. In addition, we also want to provide creative impulses with the space they need for development and implementation. To this end, we connect interested parties and provide creative artists with room for rehearsal and residencies.

We work with other cultural facilities, educational institutions and relevant cultural networks, and maintain partnership-like contacts with the audience, artists and patrons.
