Associated Artists

Anna is a movement artist, choreographer, and creative activist from Bern, Switzerland. She has been part of the Swiss dance scene for over ten years and works at the intersection of dance, performance, language, and activism. She has a unique ability to make emotions visible and tangible through movement and words. In her work, she combines different dance styles, develops her own movement language from them, and experiments with text and the spoken word. Through her artistic work and The Collective, Anna advocates for greater accessibility and visibility for BIPoC and marginalized artists, and creates spaces for their empowerment, exchange, and artistic growth.

Her artistic training took her, among other places, to Peridance’s international training program in New York, to two programs led by choreographer Rhapsody James in Los Angeles, and to renowned studios in New York, Los Angeles, and London. Most recently, she completed the dance program at the École des Sables in Toubab Dialaw, Senegal.

In 2024, with support from Pro Helvetia, Anna completed two residencies: a research trip to Mozambique and a residency at Brixton House in London. In 2025, she received the Tanja Liedtke Fellowship.

As a versatile dancer and choreographer, Anna works on commercial productions, in theatre, and with hip-hop and contemporary choreographers and companies. She is currently touring Switzerland and beyond with «Perceptions» – created in co-production with Dampfzentrale Bern and premiered in January 2026 – as well as her piece «Perspectives».

Anna is presently developing a project, in collaboration with «The Collective» – a collective she founded – which focuses on the perspectives of BIPoC and FINTA artists. The launch will take place in September 2026 at the Dampfzentrale.

Anna Chiedza Spörri has been an Associated Artist at Dampfzentrale Bern since the 2026/2027 season.

The composer, cellist, improviser and curator Violeta García, from Buenos Aires, has been living in Bern on and off since her studies at the University of the Arts, and is known in Switzerland not only as a solo artist but also for the high-energy concerts of her Latinx experimental grrrl noise punk rock band, Blanco Teta. In 2023, she presented «Sound Appropriations #1» at Dampfzentrale, a challenging live performance featuring an international ensemble of transdisciplinary artists. This world premiere explored the boundaries of perception, oscillating between pain and pleasure, and investigated the possibilities of using rituals to explore sound and space. Since then, the musician and the venue have remained closely connected.

 In recent years, Violeta has performed her hybrid solo concerts – in which she employs extended cello techniques to create a harmonious blend of minimalist contemporary music, dark ambient sounds and electronic noise – at international festivals such as Rewire.

Violeta García has been an Associated Artist at Dampfzentrale Bern since season2026/2027.
