This year’s «Tanz in Bern» festival opens with the performance «Far From Home». The plan is to kick off and celebrate the almost three-week festival with an initial night of unrest: So, grab some finger food and an apéro, decide which events to go to and then put your dancing shoes on. The Basel-based OKRA Collective will be turning up the heat at the new festival centre in the Kesselhaus. Overflowing with eager anticipation for the forthcoming days, Tuesday will be turned into Saturday at the opening of «Tanz in Bern».

OKRA is a collective of Black multidisciplinary creatives founded in the summer of 2020. Since then, they have created and co-created numerous events throughout Switzerland and abroad that function as spaces of community, connection, and networking. Their goal is to deepen collaborative practices and bring artists* who share their vision to the forefront. One of their core values is to intentionally collaborate and apply this approach to the design and curation of the spaces.
In doing so, it is important to them to have the means to redistribute resources, practice caring, and build a global community of sound.
