Who has the choice to deal with racism? And who is unable to avoid the topic?

Schlachthaus Theater and Dampfzentrale Bern have been actively focusing on and speaking up about racism for quite a while now. Both cultural intuitions are united by the desire to clearly recognise the racist structures that are anchored in our society and in their daily work and to break out of the containment of the white perspective.

To help us to critically question our work as white institutions and to better understand the topic of racism, we now cooperate with the artist Ntando Cele, who counsels and advises both Schlachthaus Theater and Dampfzentrale Bern with regard to these issues while accompanying them critically and creatively. Further, both institutions are working to rethink and dismantle our inherently racist practices with the help of anti-racism training courses for the entire team.

We now want to offer these courses to all of you. Together we will be organising public workshops that take place alternately at the two venues and are led by various anti-racism trainers. As part of this series, we present a concert by Celina Bostic and a talk by Tupoka Ogette.
