EXPOP 2026
Extending, expanding, experiencing and experimenting within pop. Over two evenings, Dampfzentrale Bern brings together several projects that transcend divisions between genres. EXPOP presents artists whose work oscillates between radicalism and pop thus creating untrodden spaces with unconventional forms of expression. EXPOP expands the spheres of what is considered pop.

Baby Volcano
«SI ME VES IR CON TODO, ES PORQUE A LA NOCHE LLORO»
In an immersive production and through a physical relationship with sound, she and her team create an intense experience. Music and performance merge into embodied, visceral poetry – both intimate and powerful.
Baby Volcano has developed a deeply organic universe for the stage, in which the body becomes matter, language and instrument.
She draws unique energy from her innermost being and from the here and now. In doing so, she explores the paradoxes of the present and claims a raw, uncompromising and sincere way of making art.

Candela Capitán
«The Death at the Club [in 4h, male]»
The piece uses electronic music to explore the scenario of an allegorical club and, through the persistent repetition of a single movement pattern, probes physical endurance and the limits of dance. In her production, Capitán draws a parallel between the dance floor and life: routine, euphoria and a constant proximity to death.
Created in 2018, the performance is Candela Capitán’s first work. Already here, she addresses themes that continue to shape her artistic practice today: alienation, free will, violence, fear and the deceptive sense of security conveyed by social networks.
Candela Capitán presented her piece «SOLAS» at EXPOP, Dampfzentrale Bern, in 2024.
