What are the depths of one’s emotions? How much of it can and should be shared? How much of it becomes poetry and music? And how much of it becomes movement overall?
In this work, HAUSVRAU explores her journey through life presenting to the audience an immersion in the memories of a non-binary trans child, grown up amongst women and female references (singers, actresses, presenters, sisters, mothers, aunts, grandmothers) and that seeks, in the now, to relive these memories as a way to build a more welcoming community.
Through her constant discovery of herself as a human being living in many ‘in-betweens’: non-binary, mixed race and having moved over 20 times and carrying over 15 different visas, her lifetime so far has been a process of constant renovation. This work in itself is the establishment of a new era of her artistry, as she merges multiple disciplines she works with. The work also serves as an important reminder that the overall life expectancy of Trans people in the world is around 35 years of age.
HAUSVRAU wishes to celebrate herself as a reminder to people that this age is not even reached by all Trans people, so if we are truly committed to making Trans lives longer and less violent, we should also be committed to giving Trans people their flowers while they are alive, so we better start now!
HAUSVRAU will be in residence at the Dampfzentrale from 7 to 11 April. A showing of her current work will take place on Friday 11 April.
