lazy club is Dampfzentrale Berne's listening format, which takes place every third Sunday afternoon of the month in the foyer. The series aims to celebrate the collective listening of music in an informal, low-threshold and cosy setting. At each event, three people from the regional, national and occasionally international music scene (musicians, curators, journalists, concertgoers, DJs) are invited to play an hour of music. The DJ sets may cover as broad a musical spectrum as possible and should not necessarily serve a dancefloor context.

15:00 Heavy Breathing
16:00 hannah_heartbreak
17:00 Ka Baird

hannah_hearbreak

She plucks at the harp, cables and computer codes, or sometimes at plants and everyday objects, to create her multi-layered compositions. She shares these live or in the form of installations, solo or in collaboration with other artists. hannah_heartbreak from Bern is an artist, musician, sound engineer and promises «broken beats for broken hearts» – could there be anything more fitting for the arrival of autumnal moods?

Ka Baird

One day after Ka Baird’s concert (on the same evening as The Body & Dis Fig), the lazy club will offer an insight into Baird’s music collection. Ka Baird is an American composer, sound designer and trained pianist and flautist. Baird performs her strong, sometimes disturbing live performances with electronics, flute and unconventional vocal, breathing and microphone techniques. Baird creates a physically haunting, dense sound performance in the indefinable border area of experimental music and musical performing arts – and not without humor. Their albums are released on the Rvng Intl. label, which has also brought the work of Holly Herndon, Lucrecia Dalt and Helado Negro to an international audience. With Bearings, Ka Baird released an album in spring 2024 whose eleven tracks are like walking incantations, defined in turn by their own diversity; the emotional result of circumstances and grief.

Heavy Breathing

When listening to a song, you get the feeling that it makes you experience silence. At the lazy club, Pipo Sulzer aka Heavy Breathing lets us hear the songs that make his breath pass faster through his lips. In any case, the selection should be broad, thanks to countless concert visits and hosting the Out Of Tune program on Radio Bollwerk, among other things.
