Tracing in a Park is a dance piece in which we explore various possibilities of lying down. It is a playful and colorful invitation to focus on calmness, deceleration, and tenderness toward ourselves and others. With our project, we want to challenge the prevailing capitalist notion that lying down is passive, unproductive, and therefore worthless. However, lying down is a position where our bodies can also experience care, pleasure, and healing. For us as performers, this position is interesting because it allows us to experience orientation in space differently, bringing us into a paradoxical play of vulnerability in front of the audience. How can this vulnerable position also be seen as a place of empowerment, protest, and confrontation?
