Two extraordinary instruments help us in “Bold & Just” to realize the daring dreams and ideas of Marc Sabat and Saad Haddad.“The Tree” is the allegorical music of a tree: between the ground and the atmosphere, between the earth and the clouds, adorned by the recurring transience of autumn.
Sabat’s music is rooted in American folk and the work of a Mexican musical pioneer; it is supported by the technical possibilities of the Lumatone, which, with its setup of colorful hexagonal keys, is capable of reproducing the 81 subtle pitch nuances of the selected palette.Haddad composes at the intersection of 16th-century Italian microtonal madrigals and the Arabic maqam tradition.
Inspired by Nicola Vicentino’s Arciorgano, a 36-note organ, Haddad pursues Vicentino’s centuries-old vision that the Arciorgano should serve musicians of all cultures.
