The music and rediscovered knowledge of the Persian Safavid dynasty, forgotten for centuries, are brought back to life by oud player Yasamin Shahhosseini in «Dârvag». Inspired by the poem of the same name by Iranian poet Nima Yooshij, in which a longing call is made to «Dârvag» – a species of frog known in the northern Iranian dialect whose song heralds the rain – Karen Keyhani has composed a work full of memories, longing and hope.

As the son of an Iranian immigrant to the USA, Daniel Reza Sabzghabaei constantly asks himself what his late father held on to and let go of along the way. What sounds and memories have remained with him? What reminiscences comforted him? Sabzghabaei’s new work is about cultural memory and the ‘memory debris’ that immigrants and their children accumulate across oceans and centuries of dispersion.

In his new work, Lawrence Dunn manipulates our memory and our perception of time with musical-psychological tricks. Based on a Welsh folk song, he creates déjà vu and acoustic illusions that change and recreate memories.
