Hailing from Marseille, the trio Donna Candy developed their sound from the subgenres of experimental rock and heavy music. Starting out as a spontaneous party band with the idea of finding a live sound that would fit in between trance sets at four in the morning, the trio soon became addicted to the euphoric sludge they created. Drawn-out notes, nu-metal bass riffs, pitched fuzz vocals and voluminous drum arcs overlay unsettling narratives and extreme loops; the speed is constantly changing until it suddenly stops and starts again. In their highly immersive live shows, a strange euphoria often emerges, breaking down metal’s narrow dichotomy between nihilistic machismo and hyperfemininity and enabling a visceral faux-hybridity of nineties nu-metal.
Donna Candy is a trio of the SHAPE+ platform for innovative music and interdisciplinary art, co-funded by the European Union and Pro Helvetia.
The duo from Jerusalem and Lorraine, made up of Ruth Rosenthal and Xavier Klaine, has been developing a unique universe for around fifteen years, in which synthetic punk sounds meet the droning prayers of a society on the brink of the abyss. Nourished by metal and baroque music as well as multidisciplinary, documentary theatre, the duo follows a unique path by defending a radical discourse that is aware of its contradictions. Winter Family play all over the world in clubs, galleries and churches. Their music is minimalist, dark, political and raw, between magic, chaos and melancholy.
On Beautiful Days is the fourth album from Winter Family. It tells many stories:«that of the musicians themselves and their loved ones, those of their territories, of their life in Jerusalem, Paris or Lorraine; that of women, ‘witches’, conspiracy myths; that of post colonialist Europe; that of the blindness and violence of Israeli society and the indoctrination of its population; that of the occupation of Palestine; that of eternal lockdown and a laboratory rat; and maybe yours, too.»
Golce is an artist, DJ and sound designer. Inspired by the abysses of pop and the underground, his artistic universe reflects a chaotic and hybrid version of himself. Influenced by EDM, punk and hyperpop, Golce mixes genres while trying to filter out the bitter notes.
