Phill Niblock turned 85 last October, but is still active on the international scene and regularly performs in Europe, the USA, and Asia.

The intermedia artist from New York, pioneering minimal music composer, and forefather of drone music is returning to the Dampfzentrale for the first time since the “Long Night of Electronic Music” in 2013. Niblock is best known for his massive walls of sound based on microtonal layers, which are accompanied in concert by projections of his films from the series “The Movement Of People Working”. Niblock’s layered by purely acoustic instrumental sounds into monumental sound images has influenced generations of artists from rock to electronica and beyond – both Sonic Youth and Sunn O))) have dedicated works to him.
