In her new work, the choreographer and visual artist Alexandra Bachzetsis enables viewers to perceive technical and social constructions of desire. It becomes clear how difficult it is to escape gender, sexual, or racialized norms. “Escape Act” uses dance, poetry, songs, and narratives to draw attention to the breaks in the representation of norms and escape routes – to escape acts, in fact.
