Wim Vandekeybus whisks the audience away into a parallel universe detached from time and space and devotes himself to his fascination with myths. In his new creation “TrapTown”, which celebrates its Swiss premiere at Tanz in Bern, the Belgian choreographer follows the tracks of oppression and freedom, fear and comfort, love and despair. At the centre is a fundamental conflict: the necessity and (im)possibility of emancipation. For his new work, Vandekeybus collaborated with the author Pieter De Buysser. On stage, eight performers from the company Ultima Vez perform to the cinematic sound of Trixie Whitley and Phoenician Drive. There is no shortage of exciting elements such as oracles, melancholy, catharsis, and euphoria.

Ultima Vez was founded in 1986 by choreographer, director, and filmmaker Wim Vandekeybus. The company has always remained true to its idiom of movement: tension, conflict, passion, intuition, and instinct. The internationally renowned company is a frequent guest at Tanz in Bern.
