Hobby horses, piggyback, hide-and-seek… everyone knows these, right? Games from our childhood which more often than not have something to do with horses. Accompanied by live music by Thomas Devos and Bertel Schollaert, three children and five adults rear up like horses, gallop, rest, and build a foundation of human (love) relationships. What seems so playful between the dancers also evokes mixed feelings: should adults and children dance with each other so physically? “horses” deals with unique connections between the generations through playful movement formations. The dancers fall down and get carried, climb on top of each other, and challenge each other’s strength. They romp around on stage and hide from each other. Like rider and horse, they build trust by exploring strength and vulnerability, suspicion and openness together, weaving them into a powerful choreography.

Joke Laureyns and Kwint Manshoven founded the artists’ group kabinet k, based in Gent, in 2001. Since then, their works have become some of the most renowned intergenerational productions. kabinet k has performed “raw” at the Dampfzentrale Bern in 2015.
