The festival Tanz in Bern is cancelled!
Dampfzentrale and all theatres in the canton of Bern will be shut down until the 23rd of November. This includes the cancellation of all performances.
We were looking forward to our yearly ray of light and to getting together with you, our audience. Until the last possible moment we were hoping that Tanz in Bern could happen. «Dear Darkness» caught up with us on the evening before the opening.
Further information will follow at a later stage.
During Tanz in Bern, the «Blasphemic Reading Soirées» go where many novel characters end up: to the cemetery. From there and using a chapter from Elisabeth Bronfen’s monograph «Over Her Dead Body» we take a look at literature and other art forms – and focus on the relationship between artist and muse, or more precisely: the relationship between living author and dead woman. Why has the female corpse fascinated male authors, painters and directors for centuries?
This evening of reading and listening together will enable an experimental and performative approach to the text.
«Blasphemic Reading Soirées» is a nomadic platform for contemporary feminism and a format that makes (queer) feminist texts publicly accessible while promoting a culture of debate.
Host of the evening: BRS (Miriam Coretta Schulte, Jonas Gillmann, Saskia Läubli, Katharina Brandl)
Associate: Nane Boemke (Head of Prosthetics and Organization Clinical Anatomy, University of Bern)
