What makes you get up in protest? When are you going to rise up? Or is sitting down still the better option? Antje Pfundtner asks herself these questions in this performance that concludes her trilogy on melancholy. Together with performers from Bern, the choreographer focuses on the potential for rising up and taking both physical and political action as well as the feeling of incapacity. Pfundtner’s performance utilises the body, kitsch, words and thoughts. It is intense, touching, sometimes cheerful, but always accompanied by a deeply sad melancholy.
Biography
Choreographer and dancer Antje Pfundtner, who trained at the Hogeschool vor de Kunsten in Amsterdam, lives in Hamburg. In addition to her solo projects, which are performed worldwide, she also produces stage pieces with the collective «Antje Pfundtner in Gesellschaft», some of which have already thrilled audiences at Dampfzentrale Bern. Besides stage works, Pfundtner develops formats of artistic sharing, e.g. a meeting initiative to network, share resources and stabilise the exchange of knowledge.
