This piece centers on the search for a body that is sensitive, subtle, and deeply responsive to the movements and gestures of the bodies around it. Inspired by the Baroque aesthetic and its connection to movement, matter, and consciousness, this work explores how the body can transcend feelings of alienation and isolation to reach a state of heightened awareness and connection to the world and others.
The piece explores the intersection of Baroque dance traditions and modern movement. It is rooted in the investigation of how historical dance can be understood, transformed, and reinterpreted through today’s knowledge and aesthetic sensibilities. The piece engages with the rich archival materials from Baroque dance, using them as a springboard to explore the relationship between past and present in choreography, movement style, and artistic vision.
