As part of «Epique! (for Yikakou)», the choreographer and dancer Nadia Beugré invites you to a special dance workshop The focus is on the term she coined «shrift» – shrinking – which refers to a common practice in most African countries where citizen-magicians invent their survival every day.
So how do you «shrift» within a space, how do you deal with the unexpected, the unpredictable, the obstacle, to get back on your feet, to branch out, to adapt, to adjust, to rebuild? The workshop invites you to listen to others, to listen to the music of their bodies, to the space, the visible and also and above all the invisible, the absent, what we inherit, what we take with us and leave behind. Together we will explore how to welcome the unplanned, how to let go and to engage with unknown movements and perspectives.
Dampfzentrale Bern and Schlachthaus Theater SHT offer master classes with renowned international artists and local initiatives. They are intended for theatre and dance professionals from the cultural scene in Bern and throughout Switzerland.
