Mark Fell feat. Julian Sartorius: «Thalassophobia»

«Thalassophobia» is part performance, part installation, part participatory workshop: a durational event where elements develop and are repositioned over time according to simple procedural patterns. This new piece by multidisciplinary artist Mark Fell develops and integrates some of the themes, techniques, and methodologies associated with his recent practice, including the relationships between synthetic sound and interior space, systematized change, the role of the audience as active contributors to the work, and an interest in extended time formats. The audience is invited to dwell in this mesmeric, meditative space, and to take part in performative actions. The work also includes a short performance by Bernese drummer and percussionist Julian Sartorius.

Sandro Mussida: «Era, Adesso, Più Volte» (Real-Time Sunrises)

This participatory installation pushes further Sandro Mussida’s ongoing reflections on themes such as real-time perception, deep listening, and (self) observation. It is staged as an audio-to-video sync film studio where we’ll find ourselves immersed in a flow of original music and video pieces (including an online live cams system that chases astronomical twilights and dawns across the globe). Everyone is encouraged to experience the piece directly with the possibility to include their own voice in the live mix via an open microphone.

Jack Dove: «Firework Rhythms» (Outdoor Performance)

Jack Dove’s pyrotechnic performances sonically harness the immediacy of low-sounding, non-projectile fireworks, which, when arranged together sequentially and in parallel, produce complicated rhythms. His homemade electronics convert the light into various sound forms, which mostly depend on brightness, color, and distance. With this he can control a wide audio stage, which translates to a visual landscape of bright flashes, smoke, and colored light. The pyrotechnic performances contrast with his indoor works, allowing unpredictable elements to take control over the rhythms and introduce an aspect of chaos and fluidity of time as a constant.

The performance of Jack Dove takes place on the outdoor space behind Dampfzentrale.

Masks mandatory in the performance venue. Admission only with a digital Covid certificate (Swiss Covid certificate or EU/EFTA Digital Covid Certificate) and official ID (ID, passport, driving license). Further information here.
