During my time as an associated artist at Dampfzentrale Bern, I am planning several research residencies.

Over the past year, I have focused on intimacy within the context of performing arts. For example, I have investigated the extent to which an artist’s private and public life are interwoven and represent a political entity. Time and again, I encountered the concepts of security and safety.
In my opinion, it is also worth considering that intimacy defines territories. Closeness results in vulnerability and nobody wants to be hurt. We feel threatened and draw personal boundaries.
Intimacy and fear have a very specific relationship — and both ensure our survival. I want to explore this interplay choreographically and to take a critical look at it.
To this end, I will invite the choreographer Jessica Huber to accompany the exploration of the dramaturgical potential of my research project. Thanks to her own experience with this topic and her long-term project “the art of a culture of hope”, she is the perfect collaborator and mentor.
Within a studio context, we will share this exploration with interested parties through discussion and debate. Excerpts from the joint research week will also be shown.
