For more than two decades, the Danish choreographer Mette Ingvartsen has been exploring the political and social dimensions of the human body in her works. In «Delirious Night», nine performers transform the stage into a delirious night of dance and music. Inspired by the freedom of masquerade balls, strange carnivals and dancing mania, the piece unfolds as a night oscillating between ecstasy and exhaustion, exuberance and a state of de-control. Dance and music become a contagious force, taking hold of every body in the space and celebrating the power of the collective body.
| Dampfzentrale: We are desperately captivated by «Delirious Night». The dance performance takes hold of you, sweeps you up and simply refuses to let go. At some point, you want to stop watching and become part of this intoxicating night: To dance, scream, sweat, freak out, feel the beat surge through your whole body, tear off your clothes, surrender to the madness and to never ever stop. Rarely has a piece caused us to joyfully lose all sense of reason. How is this night going to end? |
