Immersion in-between

Limbo. How can this imaginary space, this place of the in-between, be made tangible? How can this notion of such a non-place be brought to life? This is the challenge facing the musician and composer Marie Delprat and the scenographer Thomas Giger in their current production «Limbo», which they are working on as part of their residency at Dampfzentrale.

The challenge is twofold: On the one hand, to represent the non-representable, an imaginary space, and on the other hand, to use materials that go beyond the space of the stage. A space that the audience also furnish with their power of interpretation and which they activate through their sheer presence.

This immersive piece of art represents a multi-faceted field of research for the artist duo. The specific aspects of their respective disciplines drive the dialogue by dissolving a multidisciplinary dimension into interdisciplinarity. The mutual enrichment of sound and visual materials promotes collaborative research to develop an immersive work.

«Limbo» broadly questions the meaning of marginal spaces, of thresholds in a contemporary world, torn between mobility/immobility, reality/virtuality. A world of waiting, without an echo? A place of the unanticipated? What happens if this world shatters and we are confronted with a reflection of our own strangeness?
