Embaci, from Brooklyn (NYC) with roots in Trinidad, is a multidisciplinary artist and musician who creates worlds of sound, technology, and stories. She weaves celestial, shifting forms with her ethereal alto voice, which alternates between resonance and distortion, serving both as an instrument and a portal to new dimensions of sound. Trained in opera and jazz, she combines classical technique with experimental production, dissolving genre boundaries and embracing improvisation. Her work incorporates sound fragments—voice messages, film clips, and ambient recordings—that expand the possibilities of vocal expression. Her performances are interactive spaces that invite connection, belonging, and discovery. Embaci is currently spending time in Lausanne for her residency at La Becque. In March, she will make a trip to Bern to the lazy club to give us an insight into her work and musical inspirations.
mental load is a subtle, but fully charged diy undertaking against these live, laugh, love
conditions of existence. Looking to share queering endeavours & sensory surprises for the
adventurous hearts and curious minds, they operate from the swamps and loopholes, are
into in the invisible and unheard of, know no bounds but love to cockishly dance on the
borderlines.
David Koch is a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, sound tinkerer, producer, singer, effects pedal engineer—all in all, a music enthusiast. Discovering the music of John Zorn led him to drop the flute and pick up the guitar. From the day David picked up the guitar again, he has been building his own effects devices. The Pill Pedal was the first one he wanted to share with the world. Today, the pedal is part of the stage setup of artists such as Justin Bieber, Imagine Dragons, Kylie Minogue, Taylor Swift, and many other musicians who are probably even more interesting. David is part of the 18-year-old avant-jazz band The Great Harry Hillman, with whom he has performed on the main stage of the Willisau Jazz Festival and in a container in various rural locations. He plays guitar for Erik Truffaz, is part of NIKKO’s band, and has a solo project under his birth name. His solo debut album Dormant was released in 2023 on the Bern-based label unvague and described as «connecting the dots between everything I’ve done so far, but also expressing exactly how I hear music». We are excited to see which dots David will connect at the lazy club.
