carlo & elia are Carlo and Elia Brülhart – two brothers from Lucerne who are both actively shaping the Swiss music scene. Elia is a music journalist and writes for various magazines about new musical trends and the subcultures from which they emerge. He is also part of the music editorial team at Radio 3FACH and discusses experimental music as part of his music programme opernbauer on Radio Stadtfilter. Elia is part of Endless Bazaar, an event collective that invites artists who are at the forefront of the zeitgeist to Lucerne. Carlo is a saxophonist, DJ and booker for the Mullbau in Lucerne. He plays solo, but is also involved in his five-piece ambient free-jazz combo Hypergarden, the drone ensemble Schrei nicht so Orchestra and is frequently involved in improvisational compositions and other diverse music projects.
Press play, okay. Kathy Bajaria grew up in Sheffield and found her way to Switzerland via Liverpool, Amsterdam and Berlin. Kathy loves to dance, is part of Helvetiarockt and co-programmed the queer film festival PinkPanorama in Lucerne for several years. At concerts, Kathy is usually at the forefront.
From gospel to warm experimental sounds and everything in between, Kathy likes a whole variety of styles. In any case, anything that gets under your skin and is preferably played with a needle. Stop.
After their residency* lasting several days with a final concert (14 March) at Dampfzentrale Bern as part of SHAPE+, Eve Aboulkheir and Annie Aries will play a set together at the lazy club. Eve Aboulkheir is a Paris-based sound artist and composer. Her installations, compositions and performances focus on the creation of immersive, multi-sensory environments. In her sound installations, Aboulkheir plays with the noise of the outside world by picking it up from the environment and using it as an instrument. The Swiss-Filipino composer Annie Ruefenacht aka Annie Aries researches, plays and composes in a world of modular synthesisers and patch cables, opening up a sound space between electronica and experimental sounds. In her works, she creates minimalist sound textures and recurring rhythmic patterns that interweave organically.
As part of this residency, Eve Aboulkheir is working on an adapted version of «Harmonic Pyro Voices» with the two Bern-based musicians Annie Rüfenacht (Annie Aries) and Minami Saeki.
