The two penguins Billie and Joe lead a happy life in the Central Park Zoo in New York City. Like all penguins, Billie and Joe like to slide on blocks of ice, go fishing, watch the Tour de France on TV and practice magic tricks. And also every spring, Billie and Joe do everything the other penguins do in the mating season: they hug, kiss, cuddle and gently caress each other’s necks… But every year Billie and Joe are the only ones not to lay an egg. While Billie bursts into tears, almost causing the lake in the Central Park Zoo to flood, Joe sets out to find a solution. On a stroll through the park, Joe comes across a stone in the shape of an egg. Joe brings the stone back to Billie and they begin to hatch it… Are they going to be parents at last?

«Not all parents are penguins» is in fact a love story. You might think that penguins are just little black and white animals that look like butlers and walk funny. But what happens when two penguins fall in love in such a way that the whole world finds out about it? Love is colorblind, because it’s all about sparks and butterflies – and sometimes about doves.

Cie Pierre Caillou

Cie Pierre Caillou is a Geneva-based theatre company for young audiences that likes to ask questions and to answer them with other questions. It was founded in Geneva in 2015 and already boasts three pieces in its repertoire: Olympiades, Les aventures de Flaubert le ver de terre and Une fusée pour pépé, which have toured the French and German speaking parts of Switzerland and France. The company’s artistic team varies from production to production but is always united around a common desire: to share unique immersive experiences and to play with the clusters of realities that make up our lives – where is the truth and where is the false? – and never failing to treat the young audience with intelligence and respect.
