One of the icons of alternative rock music is coming to Switzerland for one concert. The former bassist and singer of the highly influential New York band Sonic Youth and visual artist only released her solo debut No Home Record in 2019, almost 40 years after co-founding Sonic Youth. The follow-up album The Collective, released in March, has now exceeded all expectations. To a haunting mix of experimental rock, industrial walls of sound and hard trap beats, Gordon sings lyrics between everyday thoughts and outbursts of pure rage. Producer Justin Raisen (Lil Yachty, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Charli XCX, Yves Tumor) has created an unwieldy masterpiece together with Kim Gordon, which is now coming to Dampfzentrale Bern for a Swiss exclusive show.
The new album United Kingdom of Anxiety by Polish musician and producer Zamilska, who will be supported by Kim Gordon on her European tour, will be released at the beginning of October. Zamilska’s music combines the rawness of techno with Eastern European and Oriental music, elements of industrial music and a hint of trip hop. Her new work in particular paints a dystopian, post-apocalyptic, collapsing world, and Zamilska has mastered every detail of this symphony of horror.
