«Chameleon» is a choreographic research project for five dancers who embody the analysis of relationships through the one-on-one form of the duo. The fragile balance between each two individuals is challenged and developed from the spark and trepidation in the initial meeting to the slow burn and reward of long durational interconnection. The changes we undergo as we encounter another is witness to our ability and willingness to adapt. Above all, the desire to “step in” (pun intended) to a pairing is testament that human beings thrive on the energy of the other.
Cie Jozsef Trefeli will be residing at the Dampfzentrale from 20 March to 2 April. On Easter Monday, 1 April, they will be offering a showing of their current work.

In this workshop, Trefeli explores ways of sharing that must be personalised and very specific to each pair of individuals. The first step is to clarify the idiosyncrasies that make each person unique, before researching how to transform oneself to leave space for the other. The resulting dialogue should show how each couple creates a union that is greater than the sum of their individual parts.
