To round off the season-opening festival, we turn our attention to the creeping, crawling and buzzing beauty of insects. For centuries, a myriad of composers has been transforming the specific sounds of these creatures into music.

Today, many insect species have either disappeared or are threatened with extinction. Therefore, we have decided to dedicate a whole evening to this fascinating and for our planet so important species, complemented and accompanied by funeral music.

Martin Merker has programmed a chamber music concert that simultaneously shows the many facets of the musicians of CAMERATA BERN along with the diversity of the insects. The concert will be accompanied by texts of the French entomologist Jean-Henri Casimir Fabre (1823-1915), the «Homer of Insects». Come and be fascinated!
