Rollstuhlfahrer*innen

For their first collaborative production HUNDSKÖPFIGE (engl. dog-headed), Winkelmann/Popall work with movements from hardcore punk, live sound and screaming techniques. In a pleasurable clash of body, text and voice, they create performative scenarios in which ambiguities and gray areas of violence can be experienced and felt. Based on the question: “Where is my strength directed if I don’t direct it against myself?”, they create access to a queer-feminist view of bodies and their potential for resistance and destruction.

On the track of a shape-shifter, we roam areas between hardness and fragility. – She hurls her body across the stage; she blurs before our eyes; she invites us to lose ourselves in a thrill of sound and lyrical power. We follow her into the twilight and find ourselves back in a mosh pit of possibilities.

The biographies of the two artists are marked by stigmatized narratives of “female” violence. With the fantasy of the medieval-inspired hybrid creature, they embody the animalized and monstrous images of their memories and transform them.

HUNDSKÖPFIGE is a raucous bridge to their aunts, mothers and sisters, as well as to the fantasies that rage within them, which can be and strangely familiar.

Marie Popall

Saskia Winkelmann

Two artists present their pieces in the respective venues, working on similar themes or with related artistic practices. They meet for a 40-minute, free-flowing conversation without a moderator and talk about what occupies them artistically. What drives me? What challenges are you facing? What comes next?

On December 12th, following the performance: a discussion between Marie Popall & Saskia Winkelmann and Les Mémoires d’Helène, «Body of Fear» (SHT).

The combined ticket of the two institutions Schlachthaus Theatre and Dampfzentrale Bern allows you to attend both performances.
