Apropos: “Faking It” is weatherproof. We consider heat, cold, humidity and rain rather on the first place as tools to enhance the sensual atmosphere of our rituals.

In other words, the scheduled performances of “Faking It” will take place in a wide variety of weather conditions.

Secluded among numerous trees, a group of four dancers devote themselves to the most basic of all dance activities: moving to the beat. Accompanied by the hypnotizing rhythms of the album “Locked Grooves” by Bernese drummer Julian Sartorius, a spectrum of diverse forest rituals emerges.

An ecstatic trance mixes with fitness exercises. The movements transform into fertility dances and culminate in a kind of boot camp/forest camp/forest rave/flash mob. In the process, a new community emerges in the midst of the rising dust clouds.

In the process, almost everything is made up. “Fake it ’till you make it” is the motto of group formation. Our dancing bodies are adept instruments of forgery and our dance is a form of elaborate deception. We know no better way to form a true community than to seek lockstep. Through highly rhythmic movements, our hearts – and those of the audience – come to resonate for a while.
