At the heart of the programme is Nikel’s ongoing exploration after a homogeneous fusion between acoustic & electronic sounds, all within the intimate realm of chamber music performance. The works from Prins offer a progression from a pure electronic departure point, where only a recording of the group is heard, into a quartet sound of similar material being played live and concluded with a part where the material is played backwards. That section of the concert ends with a large ensemble piece in which similar musical material is applied into a constellation of a soloist chamber group, ensemble and electronics. On the other end, Zea’s piece offers another digital evolution where instruments such as keyboard and percussion trigger digital sounds, embodying the duality between analog and digital sources while supported with video material, that is to extend the realm of media exploration.
