“Father Politics” unmasks the emotionalisation of politics, the opinion-making and polarisation of political advertising campaigns, the influence and deliberate manipulation through differently interpreted, rewritten, twisted and altered truths. For Kaltuk, the new political climate in Switzerland has a direct impact on his personal life. The young, multinational and diverse ensemble tells from a very personal perspective about powerlessness in the face of politics, about being paralysed when you can’t connect, when you don’t feel represented. It is about taking a stand. It is about the energies that arise when you politicise yourself and get something moving.

Choreographer Muhammed Kaltuk, born and raised in Switzerland in a conservative Turkish family, completed medical training after school. Parellel to this, Kaltuk has gained a reputation in the hip hop scene as a solo artist and with his crew “Special Elements”. He decided to complete dance training at the Höhere Fachschule für zeitgenössischen und urbanen Bühnentanz in Zurich. Kaltuk’s signature is the composition and creation of material from the movement repertoire of the dancers and their drifting beyond their own boundaries, which is intertwined with the choreographer’s dance material and aesthetic ideas.
