The film “Dub Echoes” (2008) by Brazilian director Bruno Natal sheds light on the mystical world of dub culture and its strong influence on electronic music. How did this strange and innovative bass music come about and why did it take a completely different path to the music of its time? The film describes, among other things, the early associations of King Tubby and U-Roy, as well as examining how dub has branched out in today’s club music. Major figures such as Roots Manuva, Kode 9, Congo Natty, LTJ Bukem, and Rockers Hi-Fi have their say.
