Blood Drive II is a piece about the extremes of contemporary female self-expression. Based on the notorious «Blood Countess» Elisabeth Bathory – a figure who continues to fascinate as a symbol of obsession, power and the quest for eternal youth – it unfolds as an artistic exploration of the staging of female bodies and images.
Stierli and Hammer developed a formal choreography that combines precise structures with a movement language inspired by waacking (queer club scene in Los Angeles) and voguing (New York ballroom culture). These styles serve not as quotations, but as impulses: in Blood Drive II, their energy, competitive spirit and performative power are transformed into a formal language of their own. Through repetition, exaggeration and contrast, images emerge that oscillate between cool austerity and expressive gesture – thus revealing the extremes of female self-staging.
