After the inspiring and touching edition of Hairdressers’ Talk at last year’s festival, we have decided to do it all again with Beauticians’ Talk: Our face is our most distinctive physical feature. Glowing skin, flowing hair, radiant eyes – nowhere is the promise of eternal youth and a brief moment of wellness more essential than in the world of cosmetics. In keeping with the performance «Exposure», three beauticians talk about excessive body worship, (un)sensible treatments and their joy of working with and on our faces. For once, their customers fall silent and the Tanz in Bern audience have the chance to listen.
Carla Calderari has been working as a qualified beautician for 15 years and is convinced that true beauty comes from within. Our skin reflects how we feel, how we live and how we treat ourselves. Holistic care means not only focusing on external cosmetics, but also on exercise, healthy eating and a mindful lifestyle. Only when body, mind and soul are in harmony can outer beauty shine in all its splendour.
Having always dreamed of becoming self-employed, Giulia Liberti has now been the owner of a 40-year-old beauty salon since July. The passionate beautician is happy whenever she gets to do something active, whether it’s skiing or enjoying the warm temperatures in a cosy sunny spot.
For me, cosmetics are not about transformation, but rather a loving reminder of how beautiful you already are.
