Barbara Bleisch trifft

Elisabeth Bronfen is an internationally renowned cultural and literary scholar. She was Professor of English and American Studies at the University of Zurich and Global Distinguished Professor at NYU. Bronfen publishes on topics including gender, film, literature and visual culture, curates exhibitions and, in addition to academic works, also writes cookbooks and novels.

Barbara Bleisch, Dr. phil., studied philosophy, German language and literature, and religious studies in Zurich, Basel, and Tübingen, and earned her doctorate in philosophy at the Centre for Ethics at University of Zurich. Since 2010, she has been hosting the SRF programme «Sternstunde Philosophie», and since 2025, she has also been hosting the podcast «Zimmer 42». From 2018 to 2023, she was a columnist for the «Tages-Anzeiger» newspaper, and from 2013 to 2019 for «Philosophie Magazin» in Berlin. In 2020, Bleisch was named Swiss Journalist of the Year in the “Society” category. Bleisch is a member of the Ethics Centre at University of Zurich and teaches ethics in the «Advanced Studies in Applied Ethics» programme at University of Zurich and in postgraduate courses at University of Lucerne. Since 2024, she has been co-director of the philosophy festival «Philosophicum Lech».

Her most recent publications, published by Hanser in Munich, are: «Warum wir unseren Eltern nichts schulden» (2020), «Mitte des Lebens. Eine Philosophie der besten Jahre» (2024) and, together with four other philosophers, «Besser um die Zukunft streiten» (2026).
