Barbara Morgenstern moved to Berlin via Hamburg. With her idiosyncratic sound that’s part electronic, part song-writing, and part folk, she quickly became a celebrated sensation. Her enchanting music is beautiful and radical at the same time, somnambulistic and yet full of groove. On her current album “Unschuld und Verwüstung”, the beat often fades out, giving way to the invigorating hum of woodwind instruments (played in concert by Christian Biegai); when the beat does kick in, you suddenly feel like you have been plunged into an abstract future R&B record. Barbara Morgenstern’s new album was released by “Staatsakt” (Bonaparte, Isolation Berlin, Dagobert).
