«Das ehrliche, offene Gespräch ist prekär geworden» (Honest, open conversation has become precarious) says the well-known philosopher, author and moderator Barbara Bleisch. She counters this finding with the series «Barbara Bleisch meets …» at the Dampfzentrale. Following the great success of the last two years, the intensive conversations with inspiring personalities on topics that are driving society are entering their third edition.

Barbara Bleisch meets Eva von Redecker, one of the most inspiring philosophers of our time. In her widely received book «Revolution für das Leben» (Revolution for Life), she took a philosophical look at current protest movements such as «Black Lives Matter» «Fridays for Future» and «NiUnaMenos» and developed a critique of capitalism that simultaneously led to a declaration of love for human action. An expert on Arendt, von Redecker never tires of believing in the possibility of new beginnings. She does so again in her latest book, «Bleibefreiheit» (Lead Freedom in which she defends freedom not primarily as freedom of movement, but as the freedom to live in a place where we can stay. This understanding of freedom opens up a fresh look at the gentrification of cities, migration and the climate crisis. For von Redecker also thinks of lead freedom in temporal terms: as a freedom to be able to settle down and put down roots without having to fear that the ground on which you live will be taken away from you or destroyed. An evening about staying and leaving, about philosophy and politics, and about the question of how we settle in times that lead into the unknown.

2023 Barbara Bleisch meets climate scientist Reto Knutti and talks to him about fear, escapism and the world of tomorrow. Also a guest is philosopher Eva von Redecker, who calls for a «revolution for life» – a revolution of sharing, caring and loving.
