Accessibility Tanz in Bern 2025

The showrooms and toilet facilities at Dampfzentrale are accessible to wheelchair users via a stair lift.
Wheelchair users need to register by e-mail kasse@dampfzentrale.ch in advance to ensure we have a suitable spot ready and waiting for them. The assistant or companion of a disabled person is eligible for a free ticket.

An audio description of selected performances will be available for people with visual impairments.

The audio description can be used from all seats and in all price categories. Dampfzentrale Bern provides headphones or induction loops. If you want to hire equipment, we recommend that you arrive half an hour before the performance starts. You can also enjoy the audio description on your own smartphone and headphones. Simply download the Mobile Connect app to your smartphone. Then connect your smartphone to the mobile connect WLAN (password: audiodescription).

We offer surtitles in English and/or German for selected performances.

For selected performances, a translation into Swiss-German sign language is offered.

For us, relaxed performances are a vital element of accessibility rather than a mere option. As such, we refrain from labelling performances as relaxed performances but instead list individual measures. These are intended to enable our audience to enjoy performances in a more relaxed atmosphere by removing as many barriers as possible. Additionally, we have information available about sensitive content and sensory stimuli.

Content notes refer to thematic aspects that may be emotionally challenging. These may include depictions of violence, sexualised content or discriminatory structures.

We see content warnings as a guide that enables visitors to take their own needs and boundaries into account. We are aware that it is not possible to cover all possible sensitivities. Nevertheless, we would like to provide as much information as possible in order to facilitate access to our events.

Sensory indication refers to stimuli that may influence the sensual experience of a performance. Examples include strobe lighting, intense sound levels, or fog. This information is listed in brief form on our website under each event.
