Meeting Point
Dampfzentrale is the place in Bern for innovative, contemporary forms or performance and dance, music and club culture. In the atmosphere of the old industrial complex on the river, we offer our audience cultural experiences beyond the everyday life. As a venue, we present guest performances and concerts on our stages. Dampfzentrale Bern is also interactive, fertile ground for artists: performers of all artistic backgrounds rehearse here every day, exchange ideas with one another and with the audience.
Pop Avantgarde
A contemporary configuration of art is born out of the collaboration with the local, national and international scene. This is indebted to an urban, culture-hungry audience and utilises the whole spectrum from pop-culture to avant-garde.
Uniqueness
We are interested in idiosyncrasy, peculiarities and the independent, in every work of art and on every possible stage of Dampfzentrale Bern.
Curated
We are cultural activists with various artistic backgrounds and a long-founded passion for our respective artistic areas, which we have long since made our profession. Together we think about and discover new things.
Hybrid
As an institution with several departments, Dampfzentrale Bern conceptualises its’ genres as hybrid and in constant interaction. The borders between the art forms are investigated, cultivated, sometimes lifted or made explicitly visible.
