MEETING POINT
The Dampfzentrale is the place in Bern for innovative, contemporary forms or performance and dance, music and club culture. In the ambience of the old industrial complex on the river, we offer our audience cultural experiences beyond the everyday. As a venue, we present guest performances and concerts on our stages. The Dampfzentrale Bern is also interactive, fertile ground for artists: artists and performers rehearse here every day, exchange ideas with one another and with the audience.

POP AVANTGARDE
A contemporary configuration of art is born of the collaboration with the local, national and international scene. This is indebted to an urban, culture-hungry audience and utilises the whole spectrum from pop-culture to avant-garde.

UNIQUENESS
We are interested in idiosyncrasy, peculiarities and the independent, in every work of art and on every possible stage of the Dampfzentrale Bern.

CURATED
We are cultural activists with various artistic backgrounds and a long-founded passion for our respective specialist areas, which we have long since made our profession. Together we think about and discover new things.

HYBRID
As an institution with several departments, the Dampfzentrale Bern conceptualises its genres as hybrid and in constant interaction. The borders between the art forms are investigated, cultivated, sometimes lifted or made explicitly visible.

EXUBERANT
Our invitation to be open to one or two surprises is fulfilled with a healthy dose of exuberance and the desire to break down taboos.

CRITICAL
We reflect the present with our programme and we do this with passion, critically and with a keen eye.

CHEER
Good cheer and humour every day, enjoyment of the arts, pleasure in meeting people.

HOSPITALITY
The Dampfzentrale Bern team sees itself as host and puts the focus on the visitors.

CHIC & LOCAL
The Dampfzentrale Bern displays capital city culture. Always stimulating, sometimes exaggerated, often extravagant, frequently exclusive to Bern or Switzerland.
